Oncotarget prides itself on being a critical journal as far as cancer research and oncology matters are concerned. Recently, the open access, multidisciplinary journal unveiled its plans to reach out more people through a series of podcasts. The podcasts aim at assisting scientists to focus more intensely on Oncotarget’s numerous research contributions. In fact, all the podcast subscribers will attain exclusive access to journal’s most significant findings through interviews with authors, selected readings from the Oncotarget blog, and full readings of published papers.
Some of the topics set to be highlighted relate to oncology and many others like pathology, aging, microbiology, endocrinology, cell biology, and pharmacology just to mention a few. According to Oncotarget’s editor-in-chief, Mikhail Blagosklonny, the podcast series will serve as an additional way of giving people free access to Oncotarget’s research. He also added that the podcast would be part of improved post-publication service, allowing authors of Oncotarget’s papers to access a broader audience. Frontiers in Cancer Science 2017
Aside from launching a podcast series, Oncotarget has demonstrated a strong commitment to increased circulation of scientific research, especially on cancer discoveries. As such, the journal awarded travel grants to facilitate four biomedical researchers to attend last year’s Frontiers in Cancer Science 2017 conference that was held in Singapore. Mikhail Blagosklonny echoed Oncotarget’s dedication to the wide-spread dissemination of essential scientific advances to not only enhance understanding but also encourage future discoveries.
All the four sponsored researchers presented their studies involving issues such as evaluating the effects of drug treatments on kidney cancer. The researchers included Mohd Anas Shamsi of Aligarh Muslim University’s Department of Biology F/O Life Sciences, Ruhi Kumari of India’s National Institute of Immunology, Vladan Milosevic of the University of Torino’s Department of Oncology, and Ruhi Sandeep Deshmukh of India’s National Institute of Immunology.
